    Derek's Journey

There was a time when I truly believed that I was beyond saving. I felt useless, Like my existence didn't matter. Every mistake I made piled onto the shame, and every promise I broke convinced me I was unworthy of love. I was unreliable, lost in the cycle of sadness, hatred ,and regret. I hated myself for what I had become, for the pain I had caused and for the life I was wasting. Some days, I didn't want to keep going. The weight of it all felt all too heavy.

But something inside of me-maybe the smallest flicker of hope, maybe sheer exhaustion from the life I was living-pushed me to take that first step toward recovery. It wasn't easy, It was painful ,humbling, and full of moments where I wanted to give up. But I didn't. I held on. And slowly I started to see glimpses of the person I could become.

Now nearly 30 months sober, I look at my life and barely recognize the person I used to be. I earned my Associate's Degree in Business Management and am now working towards my Bachelor's. I am reliable. I am trusted. I have a purpose. And that purpose has led me to Oasis In Recovery, A place where I can give back . Help others on their Own Journey's, and remind them that they are never too far gone.

I went from feeling like a burden to becoming someone who lifts other's up. I found strength in my struggles and purpose in my pain. And now, instead of being consumed by shame, I am driven by hope. My life is proof that recovery isn't just possible - it's worth it.
